evolution and service provider consolidation are
fundamentally reshaping the market for residential
voice, data and video service. Billions of dollars
of market share will change hands over the next five
years as a diverse set of service providers - RBOCs,
Cable MSOs, VoIP providers, DBS companies and fixed
wireless companies - compete for their share of this
increasingly competitive market.
The challenge for all players is to leverage their existing brands and service offerings into an expanded relationship with the consumer. This new relationship is built on bundles of services that must be developed, marketed, delivered and supported as an integrated whole. To make the whole more compelling than the sum of its parts, service providers need to understand what converged functionality and content is most valued by each segment of the market.
Nielsen Mobile is already working with most of the leading service providers to build the syndicated measurement program they need to understand the customer and track competitive performance. Nielsen Mobile has extended the measurement platforms it developed for the highly competitive mobile communications market to measure the residential voice, data, and video market.
